You will be supervising the team in conjunction with the other team supervisor, you will be leading on the preparation and delivered of undergraduate and masters practical classes, maintaining our analytical equipment and training students and staff.

We are seeking an experienced Chemist to join our team of 7 to support our services; this role will place you at the heart of day-to-day operations with the ability to impact effectiveness and efficiency. Working closely with the Division Manager, you will be expected to chair team meetings, respond to questions from academics, students and staff.

You will act as the lead technician for our organic chemistry undergraduate class where you will be responsible for the planning, preparation, setup and delivery. You will be developing and trialing classes new classes for Chemistry Programmes.

A key part of the role will be supporting the Division Manager in controlling hazards and risks. You will need to be competent to understand, asses, edit and review the technical notes and risk assessments of the team, You will be involved in the training of staff in procedures and training of students in safety protocols.

To be shortlisted, your application must demonstrate, in detail, how you meet the following 5 essential criteria:

  • Your ability to delegate effectively and work as a team.
  • Your ability to plan and organise an area of specialist/technical support involving a range of activities, such as planning and organising resources, to time and quality standards.
  • Skill level equivalent to achievement of HND, Degree, NVQ4 or basic professional qualification in relevant field such as Chemistry.
  • Extensive knowledge across a range of techniques for Chemistry.
